Spider monkeys got their name because of their long limbs and tail compared to a small body and a very small head. Their fur is reddish, brown or dark with paler under parts and a facial mask.

The longest lifespan of spider monkeys in captivity is 33 years; in the wild they live much shorter lives, as they fall a prey to many predators. These creatures breed year round and usually give birth to a single youth. Exotic breeders aren't usually much into hunting; they may like taking photos, however.
